FireScout System Requirements
FireScout's system requirements list the computer specifications and additional hardware needed to run the program.
Operating System | Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition or Windows® XP Professional |
Processor (CPU) | 1 GHz processor, such as Intel® Pentium® III, AMD Athlon™, or equivalent processor (1.5 GHz recommended) |
Memory (RAM) | 265 MB (512 MB recommended) |
Hard Drive Space | 20 GB of free hard drive space |
Display | 1024 x 768 (or higher) |
Other Computer Hardware | CD-ROM drive IEEE 1394/FireWire® capture card/port |
Other Hardware | Analog-to-digital converter or digital video camcorder |
Optional Hardware | Additional hard drive space DVD burner (for backup only) Printer (for printed reports only) |
The bidirectional analog-to-digital converter is used to convert VHS or S-VHS tapes to a digital format on your computer. The converter must connect to your computer by IEEE 1394/FireWire® cable and be compatible with NTSC video standards and Microsoft® Windows® Movie Maker. The Canopus® ADVC-110™ is recommended. An analog-to-digital converter that uses a USB cable rather than IEEE 1394/FireWire® cable is not compatible.
The digital video camcorder must connect to your computer using IEEE 1394/FireWire® cable. A USB connection is not compatible.
The IEEE 1394/FireWire® cable provides high-speed data transfer. It is not the same as a USB cable. In order to successfully capture video files in the DV-AVI format required, you must use a computer with an IEEE 1394/FireWire® card/port. A USB connection is not compatible.
Forty minutes of video will use approximately 8 GB of hard drive space. Use this figure as a guide to determine how much hard drive space will be needed to store your desired number of game files. Any additional hard drives should be capable of at least 7200 RPM. If the hard drive is external, it should be IEEE 1394/FireWire® compatible.
